Early today we have officially been announced that there will be a new Friday the 13th video game in fall 2016! Adam Sessler (former/co-founder of X-Play) says he was approached by someone at Gun Media who gave him the idea of a Friday the 13th, multiplayer game where one person plays as Jason Voorhees and everyone else plays as the camp counselors. Tom Savini (horror VFX legend) has the role to create the "deaths" in the game. He also says that he wants to give Jason sort of a new look. Kane Hodder (Actor and Motion Capture Director) also came to talk about the behind the scenes of the game and is role as Jason Voorhees. Kane played as Jason in 4 Friday the 13th films; The New Blood, Jason Takes Manhattan, The Final Friday, and Jason X. Even Sean S. Cunningham (original creator of the Friday the 13th films) has had the idea of Friday the 13th games for over 20 years and has finally pulled together what they have been wanting.
The game Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp that was announced a year ago had people intrigued to the idea of a 1980's set horror movie type game and hadn't realized that it was actually going to become a Friday the 13th game. The idea was to create the best slasher game possible. There will be some single player stuff in the gameplay however most of the game will be multiplayer 1v7, one player is Jason, the other 7 are camp counselors. The game will focus on very realistic and movie like features such as plently of weapons for Jason to use and for other players to be quiet when Jason is near. There is a boat that everyone can help together to repair but in the end only 2 can get on the boat. Even though the game is 1v7, in a way it's free for fall in the sense of survival being the key word in the long run no matter the cost including sacrificing the life of another player. There are other things in the game that can help people get out alive like a car that needs repaired or a telephone to contact the police. Each character in the game will have their own personality trait which can work great as an instinct of survival horror such as the nerd, the jock, the edgy guy, the girl next door, etc.
In order to make this game the masterpiece that those involved in the creation of this game intend it to be, extra money is going to be needed for this project. Many things can be done to still make the game fun without the extra money, but in order to go above and beyond, as they say "face meltingly awesome" help is needed! The kickstarter for this project was created earlier today with a pledge goal of $700,000 and is up until November 13th 2015 (Friday the 13th lol, one month from today). With an entire month to reach the goal, we are already within hours over 1/7 of the way there, climbing extraordinarily! The goal will definitely be reached at this point and will most likely be the game everyone intends on it being! It's been over 25 years since we've seen a Friday the 13th game, we are past due for another, let's make it happen!
