This is insane! Surprising to some, unsurprising to others; never the less, Everyone is excited for their favorite classic video game console to come back better than ever. The "NES Classic Edition" is a throwback console that will be released by Nintendo on November 11, 2016. The console will feature 30 classic NES games chosen most likely to be noted as the most nostalgic titles for console. These titles include Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Castlevania 1&2, Ninja Gaiden, Kirby's Adventure, Mega Man 2, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and more!
Prices and abilities:
The console will retail at $59.99 making each game worth $2 a piece. It will also come with one controller (which will be backward compatible with any Wii U console) and HDMI plug-in support. Additional controllers will cost $9.99 a piece.
Legacy and impact:
It may be very questionable as to who this product is targeted towards. Even though this is the case, everyone seems to be excited for it. I would personally believe it's targeted to those who never had the chance to play these classics and for those who haven't played these classics in a long time, making for a nostalgic purpose. These things will fly off the shelves no doubt! As far as a collector and retro gamer myself, I am probably one of the least people who this is targeted towards, but as a fan, I'll probably pick up a copy anyways.
Like I said, I think this is an amazing idea and wonder why they didn't think of this before. Either way, it's never too late, it's still a perfect time to release it. My only flaws/cons I can think of are I wish it had the capability of plugging in your original NES controllers and cartridges as an addition but I also understand it's probably because of some sort of copyright/license issue.
Go buy it!
