Rare Replay was a fantastic idea for many gamers of different sides. Old school gamers that moved on to newer consoles that still want to play some of their favorite classics in higher quality, and those that are new to all of these classics that never got the chance to play these games. It was released on August 4th, 2015 by Microsoft Studios. It is a compilation disc with over 30 great RARE classics such as Conker's Bad Fur Day, Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and many more. All of these games have been remastered in high quality and all of the games that were originally released before 1996 had a unique feature of being able to have a scanlines appearance by clicking the right analog stick. This gave players the ability to rewind gameplay and add modifiers such as infinite lives. All though this may be considered a gimmick, it also adds a new flavor to the upgrade.
Another great thing about this compilation is that all of the games that originally had online multiplayer have been retained to this game along with most of the downloadable content. There was one major flaw with this release. A couple of RARE titles such as Donkey Kong and GoldenEye 007 were not featured on the compilation reissue due to licensing issues.
There are a couple of other things added to Rare Replay outside of the games such as small segments of the first 16 games in the collection as challenges for players to collect points in a certain amount of time similar to NES REMIX titled as "Snapshots" and "Rare Revealed" which contains behind the scenes content, concept art, unreleased music, and over an hour worth of video clips talking about the history of RARE, information about unreleased games, and the development of some of the games.
So what was the outcome of the game? Rare Replay got mostly positive feedback upon release. Websites such as GameRankings and Metacritic scored the game an 86%, and a 80/100. An amazing compilation, of amazing RARE classics.
